Dr. Sylvester Yong Siew Yuen obtained his medical degree in Singapore in 1969 and pursued his postgraduate medical education in UK, obtaining his MRCP in 1974. He then returned to Singapore and has been in private practice since. His practice was located at Mt. Elizabeth Medical Center for over 20 years.

Dr. Yong initial interest was in the field of gerontology - the study of aging. He was founder president of the Gerontological Society in 1984. Over the years Dr. Yong developed an interest in the complementary health practices and established the Holistic Health Society in 1994. In recent years he has embraced Integrative Medicine and is the current president of the Society for Integrative Medicine which was formed in 2006.

Having explored  the potential benefits offered by the complementary health practices, Dr. Yong  focused his attention on the topic of DETOXIFICATION AND CLEANSING, a series of health measures necessary to improve bodily functions and maintain good health.

The procedure of colonic irrigation (Colon Hydrotherapy) he offers at his clinic supports the detoxification process and is a very useful first step for all clients undergoing detoxification. The procedure provides the opprotunity for him to assess the functional status of the bowel and provide a more objective means of addressing bowel related problems such as constipation, indigestion, bloating, gas distension, heartburn and irritable bowel syndrome as well as supporting the detoxification process. 

Besides colon hydrotherapy services, Dr. Yong offers Holistic Health Counselling, advice on dietary habits, lifestyle changes and other complementary health measures to manage health issues.  He believes these are important steps to consider to maintain health and wellbeing besides the standard approach of health screening and treatment to reduce risk factors which he also offers in his clinic.

Dr. Yong is also available for house calls. This is especially useful for elderly patients who have problem of mobility or health issues that require regular follow up and supervision at home.
